Grades K-1 Hours
- Morning Drop-off: 8:45 a.m. – 9 a.m.
- Morning Camp: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- Morning Pick-up: 12 p.m.
- Lunch Care*: 12 p.m. – 1 p.m.
- Afternoon Drop-off: 12:45 p.m. – 1 p.m.

Grades 2-8 Hours

Grades K-1 Camps
Space Cadets – Morning Program
Campers will embark on an adventure through our Solar System exploring different ways that we can better care for our precious home planet. Campers will enjoy a multitude of activities such as, “Gravity Games”, sky watching with binoculars and telescopes, an intergalactic sun safety fashion show, and more! Are you ready?

Dino Detectives – Afternoon Program
Explore the exciting pre-historic world of dinosaurs! Between making Triceratops masks and getting to know more about the Tyrannosaurus Rex campers will explore a time when dinosaurs ruled the earth. Dinosaur enthusiasts to the front, please!

H2O and You – Morning Program
Cool off from the summer heat by splashing around in this get-wet camp! Campers will learn all about water, one of the most precious resources on our planet. Ice, rivers, and clouds come to life as campers dive into topics such as the water cycle, snowboarding, and floating. Don’t forget to pack a towel!

Bugs! – Afternoon Program
Get down to a “bugs-eye view” and learn why many creepy crawlers are our best friends! Campers will build insect models along with other critter activities to become more familiar with the small creatures with which we share our world.

Eco Lab Adventures
Let’s do some science! Campers will mix up chemicals in this chemistry-filled camp to create an array of concoctions that will help them produce products from toothpaste to chemical-powered rockets! They will also get the chance to market their creations and practice advertising skills!
Lions & Tigers & Bears, OH MY! Engage in the world of animals and observing the natural world around us. With activities including building birdhouses for the once-endangered Easter Bluebird, up-close meetings with native North Carolina critters, and making environmental protection action plans, this is the camp for Eco-adventures!

Cultural Connections: Constellations & Compositions
Campers will have the opportunity to learn about and discover the mysteries of the constellations seen through the eyes and perspectives of different cultures around the world. With their discoveries, campers will help to present a show in the GSK Full Dome Theatre!
Art, Science, and Culture culminate as campers discover how the physics of sound works to produce musical hits from the past and present while also learning to play new musical instruments! This camp will also investigate how different cultures have made different sounds with musical instruments over time. Sound like fun?

Insides Out
Let’s turn our bodies inside out! In this camp, we’ll be digging into all the essential and sometimes gross things our bodies do while learning about the science of why they’re important!
The complex systems of the body are constantly working to complete tasks that keep us alive. Join us as we dive into those key systems such as the nervous system, muscular system, and digestive system as we learn how they all work in harmony to make us go!

Grades 4-5 Camps
Each Grades 4-5 camp listed below are full-day sessions.
Stellar Innovations
Look to the sky! In this camp, we will learn to identify constellations, planets, and lunar craters as well as find the International Space Station as it travels overhead. We will also visit the planetarium to explore the Earth, the solar system, and the universe.
How do planes, helicopters, and baseballs travel through the air? Come experiment with the principles of lift, drag, thrust, and gravity. Campers will test their piloting skills with paper planes and launching their homemade rockets!

Coding Academy
Crash into the world of coding and learn how computers think! Code your very own game and use a Raspberry Pi to modify Minecraft! This and more are waiting for campers as they learn the ins and outs of the coding world.
Programming and engineering come to life with the aid of LEGO Mindstorms® and PicoCrickets©. Campers will not only build with LEGO® bricks but also engineer working robots and design computer programs. Beware: A.I. may take over Morehead after this camp!

Engineering Expeditions
I got the power! Campers will create their own energy while making windmills and cooking food in solar ovens. We will also explore the differences between renewable and nonrenewable energy sources and how they can be applied to our daily lives.
Bridges and spaceships don’t build themselves. They’re created by problem solvers and creative thinkers – or in other words: engineers! From the roller coasters we ride to the airplanes we fly, campers will use their hands and minds to discover the world of engineering through investigations and design challenges.

SciVentures: Grades 6-8
Drone Zone
What do you know about drones? In this camp, campers will explore the world of drones and learn about their creation, operation, and application in our current and future lives. Your camper will also learn about what helps drones fly as well as the difference between an array of types and styles! Pilots welcomed!

ROVing the Universe
Campers will learn about the limits of exploration and why scientists use Remote Operated Vehicles (ROVs) in places across the solar system. The foundations of ROV science will be explored so that campers can complete “Mars” and “Ocean” challenges modeled on real-world missions. This camp culminates with ROV construction from scratch with created ROV completing challenges designed to test their skills!
