Morehead Summer Science Camps use an online registration system, which offers real-time updates on camp availability.

• Your child can participate only in those camps designed for the grade level they will enter in fall 2025. NO EXCEPTIONS. This ensures the best possible academic and social environment for all campers.
• Your child can participate in a named camp only once during the summer. For example, a camper cannot register for “LEGO Robotics” more than once.

Registration Confirmation

Look for a confirmation email after you complete registration. If you don’t receive this email within 30 minutes, please check your spam filter.

Waiting Lists

If the camp you have chosen is already full, please consider joining the waiting list. You will be notified if a space becomes available.

Discounts

• Family level and higher Morehead members are eligible for early registration. Members that are Family Plus and higher are eligible for a 10% discount on each camp. Become a member today!
• Current employees of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill are eligible for a 7% discount on all camps.
• When applicable, registrants are strongly encouraged to use their discount code when they register. Due to the high volume of registrations, Morehead staff may not be able to retroactively apply a discount code. 

Scholarships

Morehead is committed to providing summer opportunities regardless of financial situations. For this reason, you may apply to receive a scholarship, which covers 90% of camp fees. To apply for a scholarship, please use one of the two methods below. Submit one application for each camper.

Descuentos

We offer exciting, hands-on summer camps for kids, and we’d love for you to share your excitement for science and education with them!

Summer Camp Assistant Counselor 

Morehead Planetarium and Science Center is looking for enthusiastic high school students ages 16 or older to work in our Summer Science Camps as Assistant Counselors this summer! We offer exciting, hands-on summer camps for kids, and we’d love for you to share your excitement for science and education with them!

Morehead Planetarium is looking for enthusiastic high school students to volunteer as Counselors-in-Training for our Summer Science Camps from June 9th – August 8th.    

We offer exciting, hands-on summer camps to kids from rising kindergarten to rising eighth grade. During the summer, campers explore different areas of science through experiential lessons and unique opportunities.   

If you are interested in working with children, science, or education, please consider sharing your excitement with camps in Chapel Hill as a Summer Camp Counselor-in-Training! Our CITs earn service hours while enjoying a flexible summer schedule and extremely fun and dynamic camp environment. There will be mandatory training May 29th – June 1st.    

Volunteer duties include:  

• Learning best practices for working with children, including general camp classroom management, working with campers with special needs, and learning inclusive camp practices
• Assisting Lead and Assistant Counselors with science activities for groups of up to 20 campers
• Ensuring campers are staying safe and having fun
• Communicating with Lead Counselors, Assistant Counselors, and camp administrative staff
