Earthquakes, Volcanoes & Tsunamis
Earth’s surface usually seems solid, constant, and immovable. But that’s not always so.
Volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and the giant sea waves we call tsunamis shatter any illusions that the planet on which we live is always a tranquil abode. In reality, we exist on a constantly moving platform, with land masses set adrift upon a vast, unseen “ocean” of molten rock miles below our feet. Continents grind past, sink beneath, or collide with each other, carrying us all—quite literally—along for the ride.
This fascinating show examines Earth’s massive tectonic processes and explores the powerful and occasionally disruptive growing pains of our home world.
