Morehead to hold VR in Education panel discussion

CHAPEL HILL– On Friday, September 15, Morehead Planetarium and Science Center is hosting ‘The Future of VR in Education.’ This event will begin with a VR demonstration in Morehead’s fulldome theater at 5 p.m. and move onto a panel discussion from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Jay Heinz, Director of Creative and Experiential Design, will lead the event which was produced in association with Process Series production of “Closer Than They Appear,” which tells the colliding stories of two individuals using virtual reality therapy for PTSD.

‘The Future of VR in Education’ will show technology that is being utilized more frequently in our community. Universities across North Carolina including, Duke, UNC, and NC State, as well as, triangle area companies are applying VR and augmented reality to applications for medicine, engineering, and informal education. “Virtual reality and augmented reality are becoming more widespread in our society” said Mr. Heinz, “Our goal is to get some of these individuals together to discuss what their working on with this technology and what the future looks like for VR and augmented reality.”
