Morehead to celebrate International Science Center & Science Museum Day with donation drive
October 22, 2018
CHAPEL HILL, NC – On Saturday, Nov. 10, Morehead Planetarium and Science Center will be celebrating International Science Center and Science Museum Day (ISCSMD), a yearly, global event illustrating the impact and reach of all the world’s science centers and science museums. This year, ISCSMD will be recognizing the importance of science as a human right and that everyone has the right to share in scientific advancement and its benefits.
Keeping the theme of science as a human right, Morehead will be collecting donations for the Robeson Planetarium and Science Center. Over the last two years, Robeson Planetarium and Science Center has been closed twice for flooding due to hurricanes, leaving the students and families in that area without access to a community organization where they can share in scientific advancement and its benefits.
Please help us support this community and its science center by bringing one of the following donation items on Saturday, Nov. 10, 1-4 p.m. and receive free entry into Morehead planetarium shows that afternoon. There will also be science activities, a special presentation on our Science Stage from Tony Rice, NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador and a special version of our Carolina Skies hosted by Ken Brandt of the Robeson Planetarium and Science Center.
Donation Items Needed:
- Binoculars
- Science Dolls
- Science Kits
- Power Strips
- Tennis Balls
- School Supplies
- Cleaning Supplies
