In June’s Saturday Science Sparks session, share your true colors! SciPride at Morehead Planetarium and Science Center is a celebration of science, identity, and community, spotlighting LGBTQ scientists and their work at UNC-Chapel Hill. This initiative aims to spark curiosity, joy, and connection, demonstrating that science is for everyone and that individuals can thrive in their chosen paths while remaining true to their authentic selves.
Through hands-on activities and conversations with members of UNC’s Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (oSTEM), visitors of all ages can explore science in an inclusive and welcoming space. Create DNA bracelets, experiment with pipette art, and split light into a spectrum — all with pride!
Included with paid admission and located in the Launch Lab.
New for 2026, Saturday Science Sparks offers Morehead guests a closer encounter with current science. Covering topics like astronomy, the physics of juggling, and computer science, this program collaborates with community partners and academic clubs, bringing you up-close experiences in the exciting world of STEAM. Saturday Science Sparks is open to the public and included in admission.
