In this fall edition of Saturday Science Sparks, we celebrate Migratory Bird Day and the millions of songbirds heading South. Meet members of UNC-Chapel Hill’s Sockman Lab, who will share stories from their summer fieldwork in the Rockies and premiere a new exhibit: Migration Station-Chasing the Light. The UNC Avian Society and the New Hope Bird Alliance will host hands-on activities for all ages and ways for you to become a community ornithologist!

New for 2026, Saturday Science Sparks offers Morehead guests a closer encounter with current science. Covering topics like astronomy, the physics of juggling, and computer science, this program collaborates with community partners and academic clubs, bringing you up-close experiences in the exciting world of STEAM. Saturday Science Sparks is open to the public and included in admission.
