Before Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, Vladimir Putin’s government had already been designated as authoritarian. Since then, Russia has seen changes in its laws, more repression, and a growing acceptance of these harsh measures. As a result, Russians now find it nearly impossible to publicly oppose their government. This talk will examine the political shifts that have occurred in Russia since the war in Ukraine started.
