To Ebenezer Church Recreation Area at Jordan Lake

Ebenezer Church Recreation Area address - 2582 Beaver Creek Road, Apex, NC 27502

From Chapel Hill / Carrboro / Hillsborough

From either Columbia Street in Chapel Hill or the 15-501/54 bypass, take 15-501 south. At Mt. Carmel Church Road, which is less than 1/8 mi. south of the 15-501/54 bypass, turn left. (A right at that point would put you on Culbreth School Road) Follow that road (which merges with Farrington Road and becomes SR1008) to US 64. Do not turn onto US 64, just carefully cross the road at the light and continue on SR1008 for another 2.2 miles. Ebenezer Church Recreation area entrance will be on the right. Turn in and follow that road all the way back to the beach area. There is a large parking area to the left and observing usually takes place near the far end of the parking lot.

From Durham

Take either 751 or 55 South to US 64. Turn right (west) onto US 64. From 55 travel about 6.7 miles west to the light at SR1008. From 751 travel about 2.8 miles west to the light at SR1008. (If you cross Jordan Lake, you've gone too far.) At that light turn left (south) onto SR1008. Ebenezer Church Recreation Area entrance will be about 2.2 miles from US 64 intersection, on the right. Turn in and follow that road all the way back to the beach area. There is a large parking area to the left and observing usually takes place near the far end of the parking lot.

From Raleigh

Take US 64 West. About 6.7 miles past the route 55 intersection, you should come to the light at SR1008. (If you cross Jordan Lake, you've gone too far.) At that light turn left (south) onto SR1008. Travel 2.2 miles south on SR1008. Ebenezer Church Recreation Area entrance will be on the right. Turn in and follow that road all the way back to the beach area. There is a large parking area to the left and observing usually takes place near the far end of the parking lot.

From Pittsboro

Take US64 East. Once you've crossed the main body of Jordan Lake, the light at SR1008 is just about a mile beyond. At that light turn right (south) onto SR1008. Travel 2.2 miles south on SR1008. Ebenezer Church Recreation Area entrance will be on the right. Turn in and follow that road all the way back to the beach area. There is a large parking area to the left and observing usually takes place near the far end of the parking lot.

To Little River Regional Park

Little River Regional Park is in Orange County and is about 11 miles north of Durham, just off NC 157 (Guess Road). There is only one main entrance into the park, and it is marked with a white sign.

The park entrance road curves into a parking area (which is not visible from Guess Road), with a meadow and a children's playground at the far end of the parking area. Skywatching activities are in the meadow -- please use your parking lights (no headlights!) when you are near the skywatching area.

From Hillsborough

Take St. Mary's Road east from Hillsborough. After crossing US 70, continue east on St. Mary's for 1.5 miles. Turn left onto New Sharon Church Road. Travel about 6 miles to intersection with Guess Road (SR 1003). Turn right on Guess Road and drive one-half mile. Park entrance is on left side.

From Durham

Take Guess Road (NC 157) north from Durham. About 4 miles north of Durham's city limit, watch for the following landmarks, in order (and be alert for deer that may cross the road!):

  • intersection with St. Mary's Road (left side of this intersection) and Mason Road (right side of this intersection);
  • Durham Kennel Club;
  • South Lowell Road;
  • Little River bridge;
  • Bromley Road (this road is a loop, creating two Bromley Road intersections); and
  • the Durham/Orange county line.

After crossing the county line, continue driving north for approximately 1 mile and the park entrance will be on the right.
