Night Lights: A Family New Year's Eve

CHAPEL HILL – Partnering with the Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership, Morehead Planetarium and Science Center is hosting Night Lights, a day of New Year’s Eve activities for kids of all ages on Sunday, December 31st from 2pm-6pm. There will be games, shows in the GSK Fulldome Theater, Science LIVE! performances, and photo booth fun. The day ends with a New Year’s countdown. Tickets are on sale now. 

Morehead hosts Star-Studded Jupiter Ball

CHAPEL HILL – On Friday, November 17 from 7PM-midnight, Morehead Planetarium and Science Center will host our annual philanthropic black-tie event, the Jupiter Ball. Join us for an evening of fine food, stargazing, dancing, and honored guests for a good cause. All proceeds benefit the Jupiter Ball Fund, which grants scholarships to eligible schools around North Carolina to visit Morehead.  

Morehead opens to the public for International Science Museum Day

CHAPEL HILL— To celebrate International Science Center & Science Museum Day, Morehead Planetarium and Science Center will open its doors to the public on November 10th for a special Friday from 10AM-3:30PM. Visitors of all ages are invited to enjoy celestial programming in the planetarium, live science demonstrations, and the current exhibit “Firsts in Flight,” celebrating historic African-American contributions to aviation and spaceflight.

Franklin St., Chapel Hill, NC. More than 200 invited community stakeholders are expected to attend.

For 14 years now, members of the North Carolina LEGO Users Group have created awe-inspiring, never-before-seen displays using the ubiquitous Lego.  Bring your family and friends to Morehead on Saturday, April 29, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Sunday, April 30, 1-4 p.m.. LEGO-Palooza is recommended for ages six and older.

Families can get a jump on 2017 at Morehead’s annual Night Lights: A Family New Year’s Eve. Join us on Saturday, Dec. 31 from 2 - 6 p.m. for a family-fun day of engaging science activities. Attractions include special planetarium shows, dance performances by Studio A, crafts and games with Kidzu Kid’s Museum, a photo booth and food trucks. And, there will be a star-studded kids countdown in the GlaxoSmithKline Fulldome to usher in the new year.
