Morehead Planetarium and Science Center is the informal science education unit of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Its programs include fulldome planetarium shows (including original shows produced by Morehead), Science 360 and Science LIVE! presentations, guest speakers, camps, classes and skywatching sessions. Morehead founded and administers the North Carolina Science Festival.

NCSciFest is a month-long, 500-mile-wide celebration of science that happens every April across North Carolina. Founded in 2010 by Morehead Planetarium and Science Center, NCSF was the world's first statewide science festival. Today, NCSF presents hundreds of programs for all ages at libraries, schools, community colleges, universities, parks, businesses, community centers and other sites throughout North Carolina each year. To date, more than 2 million people have participated in NCSciFest!
