Curious about Pluto? Everyone know its story - formerly recognized as the smallest planet of nine in our Solar System and now reclassified as a dwarf planet. With the New Horizons mission collecting fresh data about Pluto, there's more to learn. This summer, Morehead offers new opportunities to learn about Pluto. And these programs are free!
Every day that Morehead is open this summer, you can "Peek at Pluto" with Morehead's newest Science 360 program. Join Morehead educators in the Science Stage for an overview of "what makes a planet a planet" and a look at Pluto's unique characteristics. You can participate in "Peek at Pluto" at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, and 2:30 p.m. each Sunday.
In July, Morehead offers a special look at NASA's New Horizons mission, led by NASA Solar System Ambassador Tony Rice. You'll learn what the New Horizons mission hopes to accomplish and about the NASA technology that makes this mission possible. Rice's free presentation is Friday, July 17, 2015, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the GSK Fulldome Theater.
These programs are open to the public and suitable for school-age children and adults.
