Join local teens for the next installment of the "Open Minds Cafe -- Brainfood for Teens!" on Friday, April 19, at Morehead Planetarium and Science Center.
Our guest speaker is Dr. Apurva Dave, an oceanographer with the Nicholas School for the Environment at Duke University. Like Morehead's Carolina Science Cafe for adults, the Open Minds Cafe is an opportunity to meet a scientist and learn about current, real-world research -- and it's just for teens.
What will Dr. Dave share? Here's a sneak peek:
There are more than 200,000 different types of living creatures in the ocean. Some of them swim, some of them crawl, some of them squirm, some of them just sit there. But all of them are looking for food or friends ... or just trying to avoid getting eaten! And every one of them is adapted to a watery world where you and I wouldn't last two minutes."
The program begins at 6 p.m., but come at 5:30 p.m. to enjoy free pizza and meet new friends who share your interest in science.
