An accomplished writer, director and actor, Will Osborne has long enjoyed entertaining, inspiring and educating kids. He has written several plays for children, as well as a number of books for young readers, including “13 Ghosts - Strange but True Stories” and two retellings of Greek mythology, “Jason and the Argonauts” and “The Deadly Power of Medusa,” which he co-authored with his wife, Mary Pope Osborne.
His most recent collaboration with Mary is another project for young readers, the Magic Tree House® Research Guides, which provide fun, factual information about the exciting times and places explored in the best selling “Magic Tree House®” titles written by Mary Pope Osborne. Together, Will and Mary do extensive research on each of the “Magic Tree House®” titles and offer fact-filled fun for inquisitive young minds.
In addition to his plays for children, Will’s vast theater experience includes his former position as associate director of the American Renaissance Theatre in New York; his play “Smoke & Mirrors,” which has been produced throughout the United States; a musical adaptation of James Thurber’s “The Wonderful O;” “Saddle Jazz,” a cowboy musical; and “Manifest Destiny,” a National Endowment for the Arts-funded musical set in America during the 1840s.
As a stage actor, Will has performed leading roles in regional theatres, on national tours and in virtually every state in the country. He has performed everything from Shakespeare to Chekhov to Tennessee Williams to Sam Shepherd. On television he has had running roles in the soap operas “Loving,” “One Life to Live” and “All My Children.”
Will is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with degrees in drama and psychology. The Osbornes live in Connecticut.
