Counselor & Teen Volunteer Opportunities

Are you responsible, reliable and enthusiastic? Do you love kids, science and learning? We're looking for young adults with these qualities to serve as camp staff members for Morehead's Summer Science Camps!
Counselors and volunteers are selected by Morehead camp coordinators, who review all applications, interview finalists and check references.
All camp staff members complete orientation and training before the camp season begins. Orientation and training activities are provided by Morehead and held in Chapel Hill.

Morehead recruits its camp counselors from college students who are majoring in science, education or other relevant fields of study.
If you are currently enrolled in a program of study at UNC-Chapel Hill, please complete and submit the following application to apply for a camp counselor position:

Morehead recruits high school students who are entering grade level 10, 11 or 12 to serve as assistants to camp counselors. Teen volunteers participate in counselor orientation and training, and they must be available for at least two weeks (morning and/or afternoon) during the summer.
There's no pay for teen volunteers, but it's a great opportunity to fulfill high school volunteer hour requirements and explore a career in science education.
You may download the teen volunteer application and submit it for consideration. The deadline for teen volunteer applications is April 12, 2013. Camp coordinators will review applications and interview finalists in April. To apply, please complete and submit the application packet (four documents):
