Starting this fall, Morehead is launching a brand new afterschool program. We’re going to give elementary school children a chance to explore science the way it should be explored: for fun, just to see how stuff works or why things happen. We’ll learn, play, design and tinker. We’ll experiment, test, re-test, and wonder. We’ll take field trips and meet scientists while making new friends.
Now, I’m not much of a salesman and I don’t mean to overstate the possibilities, but I’ve got a great feeling about this program. We’ve got a terrific education staff. We’ve got unbelievably talented undergraduate and graduate science and education majors helping us. We’ve got world-class scientists and researchers right in our backyard on UNC’s campus. Plus, we’ve got a beautiful quad, an arboretum next door, Ackland Art Museum, and some incredible ideas already in the works. This program is going to be amazing.
MAP is where it’s at! Jonathan.
